Siena - a Medieval treasure, in the centre of Tuscany! The historic atmosphere of this city provides a unique environment in which to stay and study Italian. The shell-shaped square of 'Piazzo del Campo' attracts visitors from all over the world with its remarkable sights including Siena´s cathedral. The building was constructed using black and white Tuscan marble and is one of the greatest examples of Gothic architecture in the whole of Italy.
In the summer, the small Tuscan city is lost in the colourful hustle and bustle of the 'Palio di Siena'. This is the traditional horse race and, for the Senesi, far more than just a costume party. It is well worth a visit and a very serious occasion where riders and their horses from the respective districts within Siena compete with each other in a battle of pride and honour! A spectacle not to be missed! Siena offers something for everybody with its Medieval treasures, modern shops, Italian fashion and much more. You can enjoy both the peace and quiet of the small Italian streets and alleyways and at the same time the busy bustling Italian daily life. The many bars, clubs, restaurants and pizzerias, theatres, cinemas, museums and art galleries, offer you plenty of scope to enjoy yourself after your Italian lessons. Siena and the Tuscan treasures in the region are an ideal place from which to begin to discover the wonderful country with its world famous landscape and culture. Our School Location
Our language school is located in the oldest district of the city and is the perfect place to begin to explore the city from. The Piazza del Campo is located in the immediate vicinity, and within easy walking distance!
We are particularly proud of the family atmosphere at our language school in Siena. The school was founded in 1979 and over its long history it has earned substantial recognition in the language travel industry. Students of all ages and from many different nations come to our language school in Siena to learn Italian and discover the beautiful city of Siena.
The school also has a library with additional materials such as books, magazines, videos, DVDs and cassettes. The specially designed 'quiet zone' in the self-study area provides you with an ideal environment where you can use these materials in order to supplement your language course. The school is also equipped with computers with Internet connection and there is free Wi-Fi available. So that you can enjoy yourself during the breaks, the school has a cafeteria, a cosy lounge area with a piano, two courtyards and three terraces with panoramic views. All in all, the school is the ideal place to socialise and share your experience of learning Italian in Siena with students from all over the world!
For more than 20 years, the school has represented the organisation known as the Società Dante Alighieri in Siena. It was originally founded with the aim of supporting Italians living abroad by allowing them to maintain their cultural and emotional ties with Italy.
The Società has become increasingly active in recent years in promoting the Italian language and culture abroad. The Società Dante Alighieri at our language school in Siena is officially recognised by the Italian Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the promotion of the Italian language and culture in other countries.

Our Italian language school in Siena offers courses at all levels ranging from complete beginner, for those who already have some knowledge of the language through to advanced level courses.
The school in Siena offers a wide range of courses to suit your needs and requirements. You have the choice between: General Italian language courses designed for everyday communication, business courses where you can learn Italian for the commercial world or even `Italian and Culture` courses which focus specifically on cultural and regional topics. You can choose how intense you want your Italian course program to be. The Standard course consists of 20 lessons per week and the Intensive course consists of 30 lessons. You can also combine a group course with private 1:1 lessons or book only private 1:1 lessons.
Italian group lessons always take place in the mornings and the individual Italian lessons can also be held in the afternoons. Each lesson consists of 60 minutes and they are held in small groups with a maximum of 12 participants. This is particularly effective because the language teacher can focus on each student individually. You can enjoy the Italian language and culture in international classes with other participants at your level.

The Internship program in Siena offers you the chance to learn Italian intensively as well as to experience the world of work and daily life in Italy all at the same time. As part of the internship program at the Italian School in Siena young people have the opportunity to gain qualifications for a successful career in a field that interests them.
An internship in Italy is the best way of bringing your Italian up to an excellent level while gaining practical experience in your desired career field. At the beginning of the program there is a diagnostic placement test that allows us to place you on the most appropriate language course. The Italian group course consists of 5 to 12 participants, and you will also receive private Italian lessons that will help you to express yourself confidently in your selected area of interest. Books and other course materials are included in the price. After this, you can begin your internship in an Italian company for a period of between one and six months.
Your internship program will be supervised by a teacher who will work closely with the head of the company where you are working which guarantees high quality training during your work experience program. Internship programs in Siena are available in the following areas: architecture, graphic design, hotel management, art, agriculture, management, social work, and tourism. At the end of the internship in Siena you will receive a certificate of participation. The unpaid internship of between 6 and 8 hours of work per day includes insurance.

Siena offers the right accommodation to suit every taste and budget from affordable apartments through to extravagant luxury hotels! We will help you to find the accommodation that meets your needs and requirements. We offer classic accommodation with an Italian host family as well as good affordable apartment accommodation, apartments for private use, residential accommodation or we can book a hotel room for you.
We recommend our shared apartment accommodation particularly to our younger participants and those who are young at heart. This combines the advantages of independent accommodation with the possibility of intercultural exchange while living together with other language course participants from all over the world.
The apartments are different sizes and can be for between 2 and 8 residents with a kitchen and bathroom for communal use. The apartment accommodation is self-catering and all the apartments have fully-equipped kitchens so you can enjoy preparing meals yourselves. This is a particularly nice atmosphere to share and have social gatherings with the other residents in the apartments Arrival is normally on Sunday and departure on Saturday after the end of your Italian language course. The apartments are located in the historic centre of the city and the school is easily and quickly accessible.
We can arrange accommodation in a private apartment for you during your language course in Siena. The private apartments in Siena are fully equipped with a kitchen and bathroom, and are situated in the heart of Siena just a short walk from the language school.
Staying with a host family is an exciting affair, and there is probably no better way to better `experience` the Italian culture! Living with an Italian family is particularly suitable for those who would like to integrate into the everyday life of a family in Siena.
The host families are not only families with children, but may be older gentlemen, single parents or people living alone. Choosing accommodation with a host family in Siena, gives you the opportunity to make more progress with your language by putting your Italian into practice. You have the option of bed and breakfast or half board – breakfast and inner – when staying with a host family. You can take advantage of the opportunity to talk to your host family over meals and learn about Siena and life in Italy. This is a great opportunity to practise your conversation and improve your knowledge of Italian. You will have a single room with your host family and two people travelling together can book a double room.
