English language courses for kids and teenagers - Malta

It's no surprise that Malta is one of the top destinations for international language tourism. Language courses in Malta have been extremely popular for young learners. For decades the Mediterranean island is the perfect setting for combining learning and practising English with a fantastic holiday! The mild climate with its 300 sun-kissed days a year and the warmth of the Malta's people will welcome you on the island. As the most affordable destination for learning English in Europe, Malta offers extreme value for money. We're especially happy to report that many of our students speak highly of their experience in Malta and look forward to come back for more! The students also emphasise in their feedback the many international friendships they made while studying English in Malta!

Time outside of class is filled with a varied and exciting activity programme. The Malta language school has its own exclusive beach club, perfect for relaxing, trying out some watersports or just having fun playing in the water. Excursions to the Maltese cultural sites are also included. Boat tours, karaoke parties, movie nights and much more round off the programme experience.

We know that school children won't have much fun on language vacations if they're full of boring lessons, grammar, and homework in the afternoons. For this reason, our Malta language tours for students are especially tailored to the needs of students from 8 to 17 years of age to provide an effective and entertaining English learning experience.

Language Courses

The junior English course on Malta is based on a modern learning system combining activities both inside and outside the classroom. Our language school`s approach to learning is very simple: The more the language is actively practised, the more likely the students are to gain confidence when speaking at home, on holiday and in the classroom.

So, the language courses at our school on Malta place emphasis on this communicative approach to learning. Fears of the foreign language can be overcome in a fun and easy way. This works best in an international environment where English can be practised every day - not only during the English lessons.

The English courses on Malta take place 5 days a week and consist of 20 lessons a week; each lesson lasting 45 minutes. The courses start on Mondays in given periods of time. The quallified teachers take the age and level of the young students into account while prepairing the lessons. The students take a diagnostic placement test on the first day. This helps us to guarantee that they are assigned to the appropriate language courses during their stay. On average, the groups consist of 8-12 participants but can rise to a maximum of 15 student per class.

At the end of the language course on Malta the students write an end-of-course test. Before they leave Malta, the students are awarded a certificate which gives the final test score and the hours of attendance. The scoring system used is based on the specifications of the 'European Framework Tuition Levels'. All teaching materials are provided by the school. Students should bring only a dictionary, a writing pad and pens and pencils.

Accommodation

Host Family

The host families on Malta are famous for their hospitality. They are happy to welcome guests from all over the world into their homes. Homestay is a popular accommodation option because talking to the family allows the students to improve their English. The accommodation is usually for three or four people in a room.

The school knows the host families personally and regularly visits them to make sure that both the hosts and the students are satisfied.

Both students and hosts must respect certain rules. In Malta there are strict rules and regulations that are imposed by the state and the host families must adhere to them. Every host family must also have a Tourist Licence. All the homestays are located near the schools or the residence.

When you stay with a host family, full board (breakfast and dinner) is included in the price. You will have the meals together with the family and lunch is normally provided in the form of a packed lunch. Drinks are included with meals, and when going on excursions you can buy drinks at the school. Bed linen is provided free of charge, but towels and beach towels are not provided. The students are expected to be polite and to be respectful towards the host family and the other students.

Residence

We can offer you particularly nice accommodation at our residence. Our students can enjoy a convenient level of comfort in this accommodation. You can get to the language schools from here in about 15 minutes. The school's Activity Centre in the residence has a relaxation and lounge area with comfortable seating as well as table football, board games and billiards. It has Wi-Fi, XBOX, as well as DVDs and provides multimedia entertainment and cinema and karaoke evenings.

This makes sure that there is plenty of fun to be had in the residence!

Other amenities at the hotel include: an indoor and outdoor pool, and a rooftop terrace with Jacuzzi and sun loungers, that is opened in the summer months. There is a large screen available in the pool area where you can watch films in English. Our students also have access to a beautifully landscaped park next to the residence where they can have football tournaments, volleyball games and arrange evening get-togethers in a picturesque setting. Every day the young social activities team organises parties, games and entertainment that is appropriate for the age of the students. The participants who stay at the residence, are accommodated in rooms that they share with other students. We select who stays in the rooms according to their age, gender and nationality. The bedrooms accommodate three or four students and have comfortable beds, wardrobes, tables, chairs, a TV with satellite connection, telephone, hairdryer and most of them have a balcony. All the rooms have a private bathroom and air conditioning. A safety deposit box for valuables is also available.

The meals are served in the form of a buffet and there is a kiosk at the residence where you can buy drinks for excursions and activities. The students also have access to the internet. The bed linen and towels are provided and changed regularly, but beach towels are not included. The reception is staffed every day around the clock. For security reasons, it is not possible for students to go out of the hotel after a certain time unless they are under supervision or over a certain age. There is a resident supervisor from the school on site 24 hours a day to look after the participants. Please note that each student must pay a deposit of €50 upon arrival. This will be refunded if there is no damage.

School Activities

The school organises a welcome party or a welcome dinner every Monday to welcome the new arrivals and to help them to integrate quickly. Here the students can get to know the other international students staying at the residence and the host families and have the opportunity to make new friends.

The activities in the summer, focus on sun, sea and sand. Malta is a popular Mediterranean island and perfect for this. Our school makes use off a beach club next to the sea and there are canoes, rowing boats and snorkeling equipment available to the students. There are also banana boat rides, water skiing, jet skiing, sailing, surfing, kite surfing and diving opportunities. Please note that there is a discounted fee for service and fuel for the motorized water sports. Students are supervised the entire time and the activities staff and supervisors organise fun and games on the beach.

There are also cultural excursions to Valletta the capital city of Malta or UNESCO World Heritage sights. Moreover, the groupleaders organize speed boat trips to Comino and the Blue Lagoon. Sport activities such as volleyball, soccer and scavenger hunt competitions are also offered so are different evening activities. All the activities are conducted in English, of course, and are constantly supervised by the teachers and group leaders.
