Accommodation

On a language trip to Cambridge, not only does the decision for the right English course play an important roll, but also the best suitable accommodation. Our language school offers participants many options for accommodation that fit different needs. So, if you want to be able to practice what you learned every day after your English course, you can go home and have a nice conversation your host family.

The language school provides a careful selection of host families and ensures a safe, clean, comfortable and friendly environment where students can live during their English language course. An other option is to live in the residence or in a flat share while doing your course. Here you can exchange experiences with flatmates from all around the world and meet new friends and enjoy being independent. Please be aware that the residence and flat share options are always very popular and we therefore recommend you book a few months before your expected language trip starts. We will get back to you as soon as possible regarding availability.

Host Family

Staying with a host family is always the most popular choice, because this gives participants some real insight into people’s everyday British life. Many host families have already been working with the school for many years and from the constant visits, we are then able to guarantee the highest quality. Most of the host families in Cambridge live approx. 30 minutes (max.

45 minutes) from the school. All host families live close to a bus stop, this way we can guarantee a good connection with public transportation. You have the choice between a single or double bedroom with either only breakfast or half board. Please take note that double bedrooms can only be booked by people travelling together. Those travelling alone can also ask for an en suite bedroom, should they wish (extra charge). If you choose the half board option, breakfast and dinner will be prepared for you during the week and you also receive lunch at weekends. The families offer you the possibility of washing your clothes once a week. Bed linens and towels are provided and get changed once a week. Accommodation with a host family is available from the Saturday before the course starts to the Saturday after it ends. Additional nights (extra charge) can be added upon enquiry.

Residence

The residence with self-catering is a very popular accommodation option. This is a modern building that has been newly renovated and provides each student with a single bed and their own bathroom. It’s only a 2-minute walk away from the language school and because it’s so close to restaurants, cafés and shops, it’s the ideal place to stay during your stay in Cambridge.

This type of accommodation gives you a lot of independence and at the same time offers you the best opportunity to get to know your flatmates from all over the world. Each student gets a fully equipped single bedroom. All bedrooms have a private bathroom. Bed linens are provided, but students must bring their own towels. Each room has a desk and cupboard. The rooms and kitchen get cleaned once a week, but each student is still responsible for keeping their own bedroom clean. People living here have access to free Wi-Fi and a washroom. This accommodation is available from the Saturday before the course starts to the Saturday after it ends. Additional nights (extra charge) can be added upon enquiry.

Shared apartments

The language school also offers single and double bedrooms in the school’s own flat share. This offers the students a similar experience as the residence, but slightly simpler.

It is therefore especially suitable for students aged 18-28. All students may use the communal kitchens and bathrooms. The flat shares are a 40-minute walking distance from the language school. You could also take a 20-minute bus ride or cycle 10 minutes to school. This accommodation can be rented from the Saturday before the course starts to the Saturday after it ends. Additional nights (extra charge) can be added upon enquiry. Would you like to save some money? Then book a shared double bedroom. Your roommate will get chosen by the language school, of the same gender and ideally from a different country.

Activities

There is plenty to explore in the beautiful university city of Cambridge and its surroundings. In order to have time to get to know the city better and delve into the English culture and daily life, the language school offers various excursions and activities or helps you organise your free time. A must is of course to go punting on the River Cam.

The boat gets moved along using long poles and has for a long time been an integral part of the town. You can enjoy the beautiful nature from here and be amazed by all of the university buildings you will see alongside the river. Do not miss out on a guided tour through Cambridge and its universities. Here you will hear all of the interesting history and traditions of the city. Discovering Cambridge by bike is also a great experience. You can easily rent a bike from the language school for £28/week. In addition to the activities in Cambridge, we also recommend, of course, going on a quick trip to London. Not only is London worth the trip, but we also strongly recommend other places in England such as, Stonehenge, Salisbury or York. Either by yourself or together with others as a day trip organised by the language school.
