People enroll in language courses in Cambridge for many different reasons. Some participants just want to improve their English language skills while others need to learn the language for their job and are usually looking for a different way to get to know England.
To serve the needs of all participants, the language school in Cambridge offers a wide selection of English language courses: a general English course, a career-focused English course and an examination course. Our language school in Cambridge offers language courses for students at nearly all proficiency levels, from an elementary to an advanced level. Unless you are a student attending an examination course or a student with just very basic knowledge of English, you can start your language course in Cambridge on any Monday.
You will have a placement test on your first day which ensures that you end up in the course group that is best for you. Classes are small with an average of 8-12 participants. There will never be a group with more than 14 participants. Highly qualified and motivated teachers who are native speakers of the English language are in charge of the English courses in Cambridge. It is important that you reach the goal you have set for your language course. That is why you will practise frequently and you will also be tested repeatedly.
At the end of the course, you will receive an official certificate from the language school.The programme at the language school in Cambridge is aimed at adults. Cambridge FCE language course dates 2017: Start any Monday except summer courses. Summer courses are: 26 June - 28 July (5 weeks), 31 July - 25 August (4 weeks).
Cambridge CAE course dates 2017: Start any Monday except summer courses. Summer courses are: 26 June - 28 July (5 weeks), 24 July - 25 August (4 weeks).
Cambridge CPE course dates 2017: Start any Monday on request and availability.
Holidays in Cambridge (weekdays) 2017: 14 April, 17 April, 01 May, 29 May, 28 August. The winter holiday is from 18.12.2017 until 05.01.2018.
Choosing between different English language courses is not the only challenge when you are starting your language trip to Cambridge, England. Deciding on the suitable accommodation is just as important.
Our language school in Cambridge offers several options regarding the accommodation that can match any personal preferences. If you want to practice your English skills right after class, in everyday life, consider staying with a host family. You will be able to participate in some great conversations. You can choose from a list of carefully selected host families, and you can be sure that you will end up in a safe, clean, cosy and friendly environment for the entire length of your English course.
An alternative to staying with a host family while you are taking a language course is staying at the school residence. The school residence is at a very central location, close to the school. You can exchange experiences with other participants while you are staying here, and make new friends. The school residence is the perfect place to stay if you want to be as independent as possible. Bear in mind that our school residence is very popular so we advise you to make your reservation several months before the start of your language course. You will receive a response from us within a very short time with regard to availability.
Accommodation in a host family is very popular with our students and it gives them an insight into the British way of life. The families are carefully selected by the school. We always try to find the ideal family where you can feel comfortable and at home. Our school staff visit the families regularly to make sure the standards are kept up.
When you stay with an English family you can experience the British warmth and immerse yourself in British culture. Most of our Cambridge host families live between 15-25 minutes on foot from the school. There are regular buses that will take you to the school in about 10 to 15 minutes (weekly tickets are available for about £11).
You can choose between half board in either a single or double room. During the week, breakfast and dinner is prepared for you and at the weekend you will also receive a lunchtime snack. The majority of our host families provide a laundry service. Bed linen and towels are provided. The host family accommodation is from Sunday before the course starts until Saturday after the end of the course. Additional nights (at an extra cost) are available on request.
The self-catering residential option is one of the most popular choices of accommodation especially for our young students between 18 and 25. This type of accommodation gives you the independence you want and offers you the chance to socialise with other students.
The residence in Cambridge is in an excellent central location and it is only a 10-minute-walk from the school and the train station. There are shops close by and a bus stop directly outside the building. Accommodation is in a single room and all the rooms have a private bathroom with a wash basin, shower and toilet, and a TV in each room. Bed linen is provided but you need to bring your own towels.
There are 7 rooms on each corridor with a shared kitchen. The kitchens are fully equipped and they have a cooker with an oven, a fridge / freezer, a microwave, and a vacuum clea arrival and can be paid in cash or by credit card. There is a laundry room with washing machines and dryers which can be used at reduced prices. The school owns accommodation where participants from 28 years old who want more privacy and tranquillity can live together with other students in an international residential community. This accommodation gives you the opportunity to be quite independent and, on the other hand, mix with other like-minded students from your school.
The typically English buildings are located in quiet residential areas about 20-30 minutes' walk from the school and each one houses between 3 and 5 students. The lovingly and individually furnished rooms, some with an en-suite bathroom, provide an ideal retreat after a long and exciting day at school. All rooms are equipped with a bed, a desk and a wardrobe or chest of drawers. A Wi-Fi connection is included in the price. When you are not studying, you can spend your free time in the company of other students from around the world.
The fully-equipped kitchens are a great place to invite people and cook, eat, chat and generally get to know each other. Bed linen and towels are provided and each house is equipped with a washing machine. All rooms and common areas are cleaned weekly. There are nearby shops, bars and supermarkets and you can easily reach the city centre on foot, by bike or by bus.

There is so much to discover in the wonderful university city of Cambridge and the surrounding area! The school offers a wide range of activities and excursions to give you the opportunity to get to know the city and immerse yourself in English culture and lifestyle.
Along the River Cam you must go on a punt. This boat is propelled with long poles and has been associated with the city for many years. From a punt you can enjoy the wonderful scenery and see the impressive university buildings as you pass by. Take a guided tour of Cambridge and the Universities when the history and traditions of the city are explained in an exciting way. The perfect way to discover Cambridge is by bike, and the school will help you to rent a bicycle cheaply.
As well as the activities in Cambridge, the school also organises excursions to nearby London. There is often a London musical or theatre visit on the evening program and you have plenty of time to explore the capital at the weekends. Not only London is worth a visit. The school regularly organises trips to other places within England and we highly recommend Stonehenge, Salisbury and York.
