Internship

Our language school in Barcelona offers its students the opportunity to complete a language course with a subsequent internship placement in a company in the city. An internship can help participants improve their language abilities, gain valuable international experience and increase their value to future employers.

After all, a language trip abroad is an important personal experience and an excellent addition to any CV.

The internship programme focuses on the needs of EU students. The required minimum age is 18 and students must have a sufficient grasp of the Spanish language (CEFR level B1). Prior to the internship students participate in intensive language courses. Our language school in Barcelona recommends the following course durations: 8 weeks for students with little or no Spanish skills and 4 weeks for students with medium or excellent Spanish skills. Students can choose between a standard language course with 20 weekly instruction hours and a combination of a standard course with 5 additional hours of private coaching per week.

The language school cooperates with many companies to provide students with industry internships. Students can name specific industries they would like to gain experience on their applications. To increase the chances of getting a position in a preferred company, a student must apply at least two months before the start of the internship. Available industries include: Administration, Engineering, Management, Computer science, Art and culture, Tourism and hotels, Education, Health and many more.

Internships last between 3 and 9 months. In some cases, the duration of the internship can be shortened, based on the specifics of the company. Companies in Spain generally do not pay interns, but some companies offer a monthly wage between €150 and €300. Other companies pay for transport and meal costs. Upon completion of the intensive language courses and the internship, students receive two certificates. The first certifies the participation in a language course and the CEFR level achieved. The second testifies to the successful completion of an internship and identifies the tasks entrusted to students in their respective companies.

Use this unique opportunity and learn Spanish in Barcelona both in a language course and in an internship environment.

Accommodation

To make your language course in Barcelona an all-around success, you need not only the right language course, but also the right accommodation! Our language school in Barcelona offers a variety of different accommodation types, one of which will most certainly be right for you. Language and travel accommodation in a host family is very popular with our language travellers. This not only allows you to use your newly-acquired knowledge constantly after class, but you will also gain valuable insights into Spanish culture and day-to-day living. Participants with a desire for independent living can find lodging in a shared apartment; both single and double rooms are available.

Kitchens and bathrooms must be shared with flatmates, some of whom may be Spaniards. Upon request, the language school can also give you contact information for accommodation in a private apartment. Our language school in Barcelona selects the accommodation carefully. To ensure that high standards are met constantly, language school employees inspect the accommodation regularly and the feedback of past participants is taken very seriously.

Apartment

In addition to our host family housing option, apartment sharing is a popular accommodation choice for our participants. In shared apartments participants can choose to live in either a single or a double room and will share a kitchen and bathroom with other flatmates. Students who choose this option will be responsible for cleaning up after and taking care of themselves.

For the preparation of meals, students may use a fully equipped kitchen. It is common for students to cook and do other activities together in their shared living space. Residents are responsible for the cleanliness of the apartment for the duration of their stay. This kind of housing arrangement gives participants a chance to live independently while connecting with other language school students or with Spanish friends. Because the language school arranges for participants from different countries to live together under one roof, you will have the opportunity to use your Spanish skills right away. Our flat sharing option also organizes boarding with native Spanish hosts, which would be very beneficial for your Spanish skills. If you have specific desire for your accommodations (i.e. being placed with young learners or with Spanish natives), our language school will try to take your request into account. The language school is usually only 20-30 minutes away from the apartments with the use of public transportation. It is also possible to walk to the language school from some flats. We hope you have a lot of fun in Spain!

Host Family

Many of our participants choose to stay with a Spanish host family. With this option, language lessons start from the moment you wake up! Staying with a host family is a great way to take the language learned in our language course and actively apply it right after class.

Moreover, with this option students have an opportunity to make contacts in Spain and get first-hand insight into Spanish culture and Spanish daily life!

All of our host families are very carefully selected by the Barcelona language school and are a part of our language school team. The majority of our host families have already built up years of experience in dealing with international students. It is not uncommon for long-lasting friendships to develop between students and their host families and many of our former students are still in contact with their former host families today! The Spanish host families may or may not have children. Sometimes single women or married couples without children are host families for our international students. The host families in Barcelona are usually 20-30 minutes away from our language school by use of public transportation. With some host families students are able to walk to the language school. With host family accommodation, students have the option to stay in either a single or a double room. Please note, however, that double rooms can only be booked for two people. You additionally have the choice to have only breakfast with your host family or both breakfast and dinner (half board).
